The Finlayson-Giese Community Center is managed and operated by the Finlayson-Giese Lions Club, a non-profit organization. Rental of the community center helps to raise funding for community projects.
The Finlayson-Giese Lions Club is committed to supporting the Finlayson, Giese, and surrounding communities. Dedicated members and volunteers provide support to community programs and residents through financial help to the "Backpack Program", volunteering to help residents that need a little extra assistance, or purchasing AEDs for local organizations and businesses, our organization.
Whether you help through community center rental, monetary donations, volunteering your time, or spreading our mission through word-of-mouth, we thank you. The Finlayson-Giese Lions Club could not accomplish our goals without the help of supporters like you.
The Finlayson-Giese Lions Club was chartered in 1983 with the sponsorship of the Lions Club in Isle Minnesota. The original members known as Charter Members are Rich Mensing, Larry Scheonrock, Bob Jamison, Butch Crawford, and Robert Ryan.
Throughout our history, the club has built wheelchair ramps, donated defibrillators for churches and the community center, helped provide health and wellness screenings with other area Lions clubs, purchased high visibility jackets for the Finlayson Fire and Rescue squad, provided scholarships to Hinckley-Finlayson graduating seniors.
We have raised a lot of money so we can put it back into the community. With proceeds from pull tabs, bingo, and other fund raising activities and events, the Finlayson-Giese Lions support many causes over and above the state and nationally supported issues of vision, diabetes, hearing loss, hunger, environment, youth, childhood cancer, humanitarian efforts, and disaster relief.
During the 2016-2017 fiscal year the club donated over $50,000 to organizations and needs such as the Finlayson-Giese Sportsmen's Club, Hinckley-Finlayson's Empower program and their prom and grad parties, East Central for a student program, the Finlayson Fire and Rescue, Rhine Lake Retreat, Family Pathways, Finlayson Santa Days, Audubon Center of the North Woods, and many other local organizations and community members in times of need.
Our mission is to empower volunteers to serve their communities, meet humanitarian needs, encourage peace and promote international understanding through Lions clubs.
